BRIEF: An old fort's hospital is now reportedly haunted. SUMMARY: Fort Huachuca, Arizona was built around 1877 and played an important role during the Indian wars of the 1870's and 1880's. It served as the advance headquarters and the supply base in the campaign against Geronimo. Later the Tenth Cavalry was headquartered here during General John Pershing's 1916 campaign into Mexico to find Pancho Villa. The fort was also home to four regiments of "Buffalo Soldiers", the African-American army units of the late 1800's and early 1900's. In 1954, the fort became the site for advanced testing of electronics and communications equipment and today is the Army Intelligence Center and School and the army's Information Systems Command. All C130 flight training for NATO takes place at the fort, as does some training for the Israeli air force and army. BRIEF: Up to 70 unmarked graves of Civil War soldiers and others SUMMARY: Eyewitness reports describe graves in the vicinity, most lost to time, neglect and development. Reported residual energy manifestations include shadows, moans and "dreadful" feelings. BRIEF: Grave of young Matthew Whaley & Burton Parish Church SUMMARY: The ghost of Matthew Whaley and his young friend are still heard laughing and sometimes seen running thought the streets of Colonial Williamsburg only to disappear at the gate to the cemetary located behind the Burton Parish Church. BRIEF: Haunted kitchen help. SUMMARY: The house was built in 1875 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is located on Main Street, in the heart of the Smith's Grove Historic District.
The old house is known to be haunted by at least one ghost from its past. People have seen a ghostly woman in the kitchen, but no one knows her identity. There is some speculation that she was a guest at one time in the house, who possibly met with foul play. | |
